Every year, retail generates millions of dollars in revenue. In October 2019, there was $461.22 billion dollars in sales generated. That number is steadily increasing year over year, but that is not the whole picture. While the top ten brands jostle for position, they are also making large gains with net profit steadily increasing. In the last two years, LVMH, who owns Louis Vuitton, Céline and Sephora, gained a total of $51,442 million. The second highest earning were posted by Estée Lauder Companies which pulled in a total of $25,507 million. Although the major fashion houses generate billions in sales, they are not the only contributors. Though hard, smaller companies are breaking into the market place and making a name for themselves. Highlighted above are just a few doing so: fashion house GANNI became a Fashion Week staple in the last 10 years, Danielle Bernstein's 2016 collection of overalls sold $70,000 in the first three hours, and Bottega Veneta who had a landmark year at the British Fashion Awards.
