Reclaiming Your Roots

I lead the direction for this photoshoot which focused on reclaiming cultural clothing and repurposing it for everyday wear. I snouted the location, which was the North Carolina Museum of Art and the specific installation we shot on.

“Southern Oracle,” a piece by Heather Hart, is a partially submerged rooftop sculpture complete with a myriad of colors which played off of the cultural clothing exhibited.

The piece was a perfect tie in for both the issue and the shoot itself as Hart was inspired by her family history in North Carolina itself.

I chose to pull images that represented the essence of the shoot and which I remember having direct involvement with either helping to style, coach modeling, or help with direction.
